This working paper was prepared on behalf of BSR’s Healthcare Working Group, a group of 15 global healthcare companies hosted by BSR, as part of an ongoing program initiated in 2013 by the launch of the Guiding Principles on Access to Healthcare.

This paper sets to help pharmaceutical and medical device companies improve their ability to measure and report performance on access to healthcare by improving the quality and comparability of metrics, by increasing the focus on outcomes, and by providing related guidance on monitoring and evaluation methodology.

While the research was conducted by and for pharmaceutical companies, this working paper provides approaches that are useful beyond the healthcare sector. It should resonate with and motivate companies across sectors to focus more strategically on metrics.
