Membership

Elisa leads BSR’s consumer sectors practice globally and oversees the BSR global membership network. She works with companies in the luxury, beauty, fashion, hospitality, retail, and food industries to better integrate sustainability into core business strategy, products, and operations.

She helps companies understand the world’s big disruptions, create resilient and inclusive business models and practices, and evolve brand strategy to integrate changing consumer expectations. Elisa also leads BSR’s Responsible Luxury Initiative and the Southeast Asia Reptile Conservation Alliance (SARCA).

Prior to joining BSR, Elisa was an account manager at CHANEL and a consultant at Accenture and Ernst & Young.

Elisa is French-American. She holds an M.B.A. in Luxury Goods Marketing and Management from Sup de Luxe, an M.A. in International Relations from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques Paris, and a B.A. in French from the University of Pennsylvania.

Matthew is responsible for creating and overseeing internal processes related to BSR member services.

In addition, he provides support to BSR’s Executive Committee and Operations Committee. Prior to moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, Matthew was the office manager of BSR’s New York office. In this position, he was the primary liason between the finance, human resources, and IT teams, and he supported the Healthcare Working Group and the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Initiative. During his time in New York, Matthew also oversaw two office moves.

Before joining BSR, Matthew lived and worked in France as a translator and English teacher. He moved from Europe to San Diego in 2005 and worked there as an office manager.

Matthew holds an M.A. in French and Translation Studies from the University of Manchester.

Francesca brings more than 12 years of experience in human rights, sustainability management, and responsible supply chains to her work with companies in the infrastructure, financial services, and consumer products sectors. After spending her first years at BSR with the human rights team and successfully leading numerous engagements as Nordics lead in Copenhagen, Francesca is now based in New York City and leads our global membership team. 

Prior to joining BSR, Francesca worked at a global Danish retailer, where she was responsible for human rights programs at the corporate and local level. Francesca has also previously worked with the Danish Institute for Human Rights as well as Vestas and Maersk, where she was part of their sustainability teams and helped to establish social compliance systems and managed broader sustainability initiatives such as materiality, reporting, and ethics. She has done field work in East Africa, India, Myanmar, China, and South Korea.

Francesca holds a M.S. in Business and Development Studies from Copenhagen Business School and a BA in Political Science and International Relations from LUISS University Rome. She speaks Danish, English, and Italian.
