Job Description
Mattel is seeking an Analyst, Sustainable Product and Packaging to join the Global Sustainability and Social Impact team in El Segundo, CA. This role will support the growth and success of Mattel’s product and packaging sustainability strategy, including coordination of the sustainability attribute and certification process and partnership with design and development teams to drive progress to global goals.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and excels at putting strategies into action. Some familiarity with the landscape of sustainability certifications and regulations will be helpful.
What Your Impact Will Be:
Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability & Circularity, the responsibilities of this Analyst will include but not be limited to:
- Maintaining the sustainable product and packaging attributes and certification process, including engagement with standard bearers and verifiers, collecting data from supporting functions and suppliers, and managing documentation, approvals and results
- Maintaining and evolve content in guidelines and resources on Mattel’s product and packaging sustainability attributes
- Supporting the creation and delivery of educational resources to the product design, development and brand teams regarding product and packaging sustainability attributes
- Monitoring updates, risks, and opportunities across partner requirements, industry trends, and global regulations impacting product and packaging sustainability
- Supporting on the delivery and execution of product and packaging sustainability strategies across design and development teams to drive progress to global goals
- Gathering and monitor product and packaging data to drive progress to global sustainability goals
- Collecting and provide product and packaging data inputs for annual sustainability and social impact reporting
- Ad hoc projects and assigned duties, as necessary
What We’re Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in a sustainability-related field e.g. environmental science or engineering
- 2+ years of professional experience working in sustainability or a related role
- Familiarity with sustainable material and product certifications and awareness of sustainability regulations impacting products and packaging (e.g. Extended Producer Responsibility schemes)
- Highly collaborative and able to build relationships throughout an organization
- Analytical problem-solving skills with an understanding of qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
- Ability to efficiently handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities, and be very detail-oriented
- Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams
- Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage relationships, and excellent time management skills
- Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning and embracing challenges
The annual base salary range for this position is between $80,000 and $98,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
