About the job

This position will support the coordination and project management of Twilio’s external ESG reporting efforts and help address emerging sustainability data and reporting requirements to contribute to Twilio’s global sustainability strategy. Reporting to the Vice President of Social & Environmental Impact on the Twilio.org team (the social impact arm of the company), the role will project manage the production and continuous improvement of Twilio’s Annual Impact & DEI Report, help manage relationships with ESG rating agencies (such as CDP, EcoVadis, and ISS), and ensure data alignment with reporting standards. Additionally, the role will support initiatives aimed at enhancing Twilio’s ESG performance, including efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

The ideal candidate will be analytical, detail-oriented, and a team player with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines. You should be comfortable with a fast-paced environment and eager to contribute to the production of trustworthy and useful ESG disclosures and reports. This role is well suited for someone with a strong interest in sustainability and a desire to grow in the field.

Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll:

  • Project manage the annual Impact & DEI Report, including planning, coordination, and ensuring accountability among cross-functional stakeholders. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review deadlines, facilitate feedback resolution and approvals, create content, escalate issues, document decisions, collaborate with the web and brand teams, and lead retrospectives for continuous improvement
  • Collect and analyze ESG data from partner teams while identifying potential errors and maintaining a sufficient audit trail
  • Coordinate communications with senior leadership across the company, including legal, accounting, finance, HR, and others to ensure timely information sharing and alignment
  • Partner with Technical Accounting to stay informed about regulatory changes related to ESG reporting and assist in implementing necessary updates to ensure compliance with evolving regulatory reporting standards by integrating necessary controls and data validation measures
  • Maintain Twilio’s current ESG data repository and recommend responses to inquiries from relevant ESG rating agencies, customers and other organizations, such as CDP, EcoVadis, and ISS
  • Help manage relationships with third-party raters and rankers (e.g., ISS), ensuring data accuracy and alignment with ESG standards. Support the identification of data gaps and ensure proper business categorization. Stay abreast of raters/rankers landscape and peer trends to recommend possible reporting adjustments
  • Ensure alignment to various reporting frameworks (ESRS, SASB, TCFD, etc.) and provide recommendations for the strategic evolution of reporting, including the progression of message, content, and design
  • Support ongoing improvements to reporting tools and processes, helping identify opportunities for automation and efficiency
  • Assist with cross-functional projects aimed at improving ESG performance at the company, including Twilio’s efforts to reduce its carbon emissions

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • 2 years of experience managing projects related to ESG compliance and reporting
  • Basic understanding of carbon accounting, ESG reporting frameworks and methodologies, such as CDP and EcoVadis as well as of GRI, SASB, and TCFD
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Experience with project coordination and supporting teams to meet objectives. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. Comfortable taking initiative to drive projects forward even under ambiguous circumstances
  • Proven quantitative skills and the ability to comprehend, synthesize, and analyze ESG and greenhouse gas data
  • Effective communication skills for clear, concise, and impactful report writing and survey responses

Desired:

  • Familiarity with evolving ESG regulatory requirements and experience engaging with diverse external stakeholders on ESG matters
  • Basic understanding of sustainable, responsible business practices and issue areas across ESG, such as climate, human rights and community engagement
  • Track record of successful prioritization and data-driven decision making
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across teams. Demonstrates a willingness to contribute ideas, build relationships, and influence others through communication and teamwork, even without formal authority.
  • Experience with ESG disclosure assurance

Location

This role will be remote, and based in Canada.

Travel
