Climate Change
Today, we find ourselves confronting the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced: the climate crisis. Carbon credits are one tool that, when made and used well, can play a critical role in limiting warming to 1.5°C.
In 2022 the voluntary carbon market passed $2B in value and could reach $5B-$30B by 2030. However, growing criticism, and increasing complexity is leaving potential buyers wary of participating in the market, impeding its progress, and the scaling of key climate solutions.
The Business Alliance to Scale Climate Solutions (BASCS) aims to confront this issue with an in-depth, interactive learning experience for carbon credit buyers that covers the fundamentals of transacting in carbon markets via a boot camp to provide new and emerging buyers with the knowledge and tools they need to purchase high-quality carbon credits, and help scale the VCM.
Participants can expect to leave the boot camp with a better understanding of:
- What carbon credits are: history, lifecycle, key players
- How to use them: claims, role in climate action strategies
- How to evaluate their quality: quality, ratings, standards
- How to buy them: internal buy in, partners, portfolio design, contracting
We're proud to partner and co-locate Carbon Credit Buyers Bootcamp at VERGE 23 (Oct. 24-26, San Jose, CA)—leading climate tech event accelerating solutions to the most pressing challenges of our time. VERGE 23 will bring together more than 5,000 leaders from business, government, solution providers and startups—working together to address the climate crisis across the six key programs that comprise the event: Buildings, Carbon, Energy, Food, Startups and Transport.
